I rolled an extremely moe Spiritmaster as my secondary character for when I get bored of grinding my Chanter. His design is loosely based on Hemlock’s.

Going from Chanter to Mage was an extremely jarring experience for me, since Gar can easily tank the crap out of things while still healing herself quick and easy; Mages, on the other hand, are squishy as fuck, and the inability to heal myself left me flailing all the way through Poeta. The switchover was certainly refreshing, though, and I’m sure it won’t take long for Aephon to meet Garius in level.

What this has made me realize, however, is that I really took my buffs and my healing spells for granted. Long story short, Chanters are boss, and I was spoiled by choosing one as my first character after rejoining. I think I’ll be grinding Gar to 30 before I try to raise Aephon any higher, simply because I’ve come to realize just how easy it is to play a Chanter. I doubt my way through Eltnen will be difficult.

And now for some pictures, plus info on the characters themselves!

Quick bio on Garius:
Having ascended as a mid-teenager, she’s a bit on the short side and has youthful features. While thin, she’s somewhat bottom-heavy (though she’ll be quick to assure you it’s mostly muscle). She keeps her hair short and opts for a makeup style that makes her look more mature than she physically is. One of her eyes is discolored due to a serious head wound she sustained as a human: when she was in her preteens, she got on the bad side of an Abex, and…well, let’s just say it’s lucky she still has that eye.

As far as personality goes, Garius is carefree if a little brash. While a competent fighter, she habitually addresses her fellow Daevas a bit too casually, and can often be exasperating to deal with. She has a fondness for things dazzling and extravagant, though her budget can hardly incorporate them.

AND NOW FOR SOME SHOTS OF AEPHON.

All from when he was a noobmage, of course.

Storywise, Aephon has been a Daeva for many years, though his combat experience is somewhat minimal. Having preferred to deal with more menial tasks as a fellow of Sanctum, he’s spent most of his ascended days as a researcher and occasional messenger.

He ascended at what would be roughly equivalent to the age of nine, as an act of rebellion against his parents. Due to his high level of intelligence and his proficiency with spells, Aephon easily found himself among the ranks of the Daevas. Unfortunately, his early ascension locked him into a tiny form that prevented him from being fully of use on the battlefield. Of course, he doesn’t mind this terribly anyway, since he’s a pacifist at heart and would much rather seek an Asmodian surrender than an utter annihilation. As for the Balaur…well, as far as he’s concerned, the others can handle them just fine.

Chronologically in his mid-twenties, Aephon is the type to prefer to keep to himself, though he adores animals of all sorts, and treats his Spirits as family. He is a very kind person, though he’s known to be a little quirky. Recently he’s been doing a lot more field work than he’d done in the past several years, which has been wearing a lot on his naturally weak constitution.

since we’re both rolling chanters, things should be interesting when it comes time to run instances. i think this is the first time we’ve played characters of the same archetype in quite a while.

anyway, yeah, if anyone else wants in on this madness, aion is going f2p this spring and they’re doing an event right now with free game time and double exp on weekends. now’s a great time to join!
